Counseling and Psychological Services

Texas A&M is dedicated to providing high-quality counseling services to all students. Aggies have access to a wide array of services, from short-term help to long-term counseling, to help support your mental health needs so you can focus on your academic goals.

CAPS has recently rolled out Aggies Reaching Aggies, an initiative to raise awareness and prevent suicide at Texas A&M. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

Education Abroad

Education Abroad at Texas A&M is proud to promote and facilitate transformational, diverse and inclusive international experiences for over 5,500 Aggies each academic year — more than any other public university. With offerings ranging from one week to one year in over 100 different countries around the world, we help Aggies from freshmen to doctoral candidates find study, intern, research, service or volunteer programs to fit their academic and personal interests, career goals and budget.

Education Abroad experiences actively prepare students to be global citizens, immersing them in foreign languages and cultures to foster intercultural knowledge and competence. Participating in education abroad while at Texas A&M gives students the opportunity to expand their intellectual and personal horizons, better navigate different environments, and build a more impressive resume. Education Abroad is dedicated to supporting students before, during and after their experiences abroad.

Transportation and Dining

AggieBus

Texas A&M University provides student, faculty and staff access to the AggieSpirit bus, a 7-day-a-week transit system connecting campus to apartments and shopping areas in Bryan and College Station, the RELLIS campus at Blinn College and other hubs.

A Texas A&M University ID, Blinn College ID or Brazos Transit District ID is necessary to ride both on- and off-campus bus routes, although individuals without an ID will be allowed to ride and given information on how to obtain an approved ID.

Parking

Parking permits are available to students, faculty and staff and run through August. Proration is available for students who purchase a pass after the initial July registration deadline. Texas A&M’s campus hosts five parking garages with live updated availability and hourly parking for visitors.

Instead of a traditional hangtag or sticker, all Texas A&M parking passes are purchased and verified virtually through your license plate. Paid parking is available on sports gamedays in specific lots for visitors and non-permit holders. More information is available from Transportation Services.

On-Campus Housing and Dining

Housing

With 25 residence halls on campus, students who want to live where they learn, study and hang out with friends have six hall style options to choose from. Students with families or who want something different from traditional hall living have access to two university-owned apartments within walking distance of Texas A&M. Members of the Corps of Cadets live in exclusive residence halls centered around The Quad on campus.

Dining

There’s no shortage of dining options at Texas A&M. Multiple dining halls located across campus offer grub spots unique to Aggieland and national chains like Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Smoothie King. Students can choose between seven meal plan options to fit any budget or taste.

Your dietary restrictions and needs are very important to us and that’s why Texas A&M dining halls and retail stores have vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, etc. meals available. Visit our University Dining website for more information.

Texas A&M is also located right by the Northgate Entertainment District and Century Square, both of which offer patrons a wide variety of choices.

Campus Safety

Our top priority is your safety. Texas A&M has implemented security measures around campus to ensure our students feel safe during their time in Aggieland.

Code Maroon

The Code Maroon emergency notification system is used to pass on safety-related information whenever there is an emergency on or near campus. Code Maroon is available to students, faculty, parents and friends of Texas A&M. This system will only be used to provide official notification of critical emergencies that pose an imminent, physical threat to the community.

Corps Escort

The Corps of Cadets provides students, faculty and staff with a free Corps escort service. A member of the Corps of Cadets will accompany any individual who requests the service to their destination on campus. The Corps Escort service runs while Guard Room operations are conducted — weekdays from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. and 24 hours a day on weekends.

Blue Emergency Phones

In case of an emergency, blue light phones are positioned throughout Texas A&M’s campus. Look for 12-foot poles with blue lights and “Police Help” lettering across the front and sides. If you stand at any emergency phone on campus, you will be able to see at least one more, making sure you have access to help along the way to your destination.

To use, open the weatherproof box, press the red button and speak directly into the center of the phone. The University Police dispatcher will know your exact location immediately.

Student Assistance Services

Student Assistance Services offers students guidance and resources with personal and academic issues, including emergency support, Silver Taps, Campus Ministry Association and more. SAS often serves as starting point to find the proper help for students.
