The Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM) is an industry-leading institution committed to supporting the educational needs of Texans with top-tier educational programs. Students at the HECM will fulfill individual career goals, enhance continued economic development of the Rio Grande Valley and reinforce one of the hardest working job markets in the country.
Freshman and transfer applicants may apply to the HECM using ApplyTexas or Common App applications. Freshman applicants seeking Fall 2022 admission, may submit The Common App through March 1. All additional required documents must be received by March 15.
All students seeking admission to the HECM will complete the application for Texas A&M University and be considered as part of the admission process to Texas A&M. Students applying to majors that are offered in College Station and McAllen should indicate McAllen as their preferred location on their application.

This program is brand new to our McAllen location and brings the specialized yet widely applicable degree to the Rio Grande Valley. Learn the ins and outs of maritime business administration from industry experts and longtime veterans. Whether a student is more interested in the running of ports, working in a shipping company or getting into accounting or logistics, this degree is perfect for driven individuals that want to land a great job.
Students in this program learn how to create a healthier world. Among other things, they explore health disparities in underserved populations, struggles within the United States’ health care system and cutting-edge innovations to fight the deadliest diseases.
This degree enables students to craft a personalized plan that provides foundational and advanced knowledge in the arts and scientific fields. The area of concentration gives wide flexibility to design a focus of study for each student — advisers will assist students to build a core set of courses to align with interests and career goals. A Spanish minor and a minor from the College of Science are required.
Aggies by the Sea are charting a course to change the world. Texas A&M University at Galveston is the hot-spot for all things “ocean-oriented” at Texas A&M. This branch campus offers a unique blend of marine and maritime programs, including majors in science, business, engineering, liberal arts and transportation.

Texas A&M Galveston offers students exclusive marine-specific degrees with cutting-edge resources, a world-class faculty and intimate learning environments. With eight undergraduate degrees, four graduate and professional degrees and six minors available, students longing for the sea will find plenty of programs that make building a career like sailing with the wind.
Foundational Sciences — three minors are offered in chemistry and mathematics. There are also courses offered in physics and statistics. The department specializes in preparing students for a successful future by giving them the solid scientific base required for most majors provided on campus.
Maritime Studies — Interdisciplinary degree addressing human and cultural aspects of coastal issues, such as recreation and tourism, energy, trade policy and administration, history, conservation and the effects of rising sea levels on coastal communities.
Engineering at Galveston — The Engineering at Galveston program allows students the opportunity to learn about the different engineering majors, prior to seeking entry into a degree-granting major at Texas A&M College Station or Ocean Engineering Program at Texas A&M Galveston.
Texas A&M University at Qatar is a fully accredited branch campus of Texas A&M and offers six undergraduate degrees — including Bachelor of Science degrees in varying engineering concentrations — and a graduate program.
