  1. The 12th Man and SEC Athletics

College athletics is an exciting world. The men and womens College World Series, National Football Playoffs, conference tournament championships for dozens of sports; the list of meaningful competitions is endless.

There is no conference in the nation more competitive both within itself and with others than the Southeastern Conference. Since 2000, the SEC has combined for 13 football national championships, nine baseball national championships and four mens basketball national championships. The womens soccer, tennis and volleyball teams constantly compete for national championships and send athletes to professional stardom.

Within the SEC, few atmospheres compete with that of Texas A&M and the 12th Man. You’ll see it in the loud, pounding atmosphere of Kyle Field on a Saturday in the fall. You’ll see it watching a baseball game at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in the spring.

As of the writing of this blog, Texas A&M just recorded the highest-rated football recruiting class in NCAA history, the baseball team is going to its seventh College World Series, three women’s tennis players were named ITA All-Americans, the equestrian team made it to the NCEA Finals and the track and field team tied for fourth in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

If you’re looking for a college athletics experience that is unlike anything else in the country, Texas A&M is the place for you. The 12th Man is hard to describe, but students fall in love with it and keep coming back for decades after their graduation.

Texas A&M gives you the opportunity to find where you belong.

  1. The Aggie Spirit

Aggies are unique. You can tell the difference between an Aggie and another schools’ graduate. It’s in the way they talk, how they treat others, what they do under pressure. The Aggie Spirit is a timeless set of values that is instilled in students while they’re here.

The Aggie Core Values just scratch the surface of the Spirit: Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity and Selfless Service. Aggies act with these values in mind, most before they even decide to attend Texas A&M.

The Aggie Spirit is visible from the time you step onto campus. Texas A&M was named the “Happiest Campus” in the United States by a study cited by the Huffington Post. You’ll see it when you pass a stranger and they give you an enthusiastic, “Howdy!” You’ll see it in the way every Aggie knows to respect those that came before them when taking their hat off in the Memorial Student Center. You’ll see it when someone you’ve never spoken to holds the door open for you.

Another key aspect of the Aggie Spirit is the Aggie Code of Honor: An Aggie does not lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those who do. This goes beyond academic honesty in the classroom — it’s a way of life you see in Aggies for the rest of their lives.

Attending Texas A&M and taking the Core Values, Code of Honor and Aggie Spirit can make you a better person, and who doesn’t want that?
