Understanding your admission status (Higher Education Center at McAllen)

Posted on 06/13/2022 02:26 PM
Congratulations on being admitted to the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen, where you’ll receive the best of both worlds: full support from the flagship university but in a small college setting. Here’s a breakdown to help you better understand your admission status.

Accepting your offer:

To officially accept your admissions offer, register for a New Student Conference (NSC). You can register for your NSC through the Applicant Information System (AIS). Once you are logged in to AIS, go to the My App Status tab, click on My Next Steps and follow the steps to register.

NSC fees can be deferred if you used an application fee waiver for the Texas A&M application for admission. NSC fee deferral means the fee will be added to your tuition bill. You may choose this option online during NSC registration allowing you to register without making a payment.

Your $225 conference fee is nonrefundable, but this fee includes all NSC materials and programming, breakfast & lunch and one family/guest registration. Register family members and guests online to grant them access to our Aggie Family Portal. Family and guest registration will be available online until 10 business days prior to the conference. On-site registration will be available at the NSC; however, we suggest you register online in advance. Communication with registered family members will begin a few weeks prior to NSCs.

NSC Requirements and Testing

Here is a list of items to complete prior to attending your NSC and enrolling in classes. Review your personalize checklist online at applicant.tamu.edu

PALM Camp

In addition to your NSC, you should consider attending PALM Camp. At this one-day welcome camp for freshman & transfer students, current students share the traditions and values of Texas A&M and help new students establish relationships for success at the Higher Education Center at McAllen. It’s called PALM Camp to represent the City of Palms (McAllen) and the community of students that organize the event — Passionate Aggies Leading McAllen. Registration opens later this summer for PALM CAMP 2022 on August 19!

A world of opportunities awaits you in McAllen and we can’t wait for the next step of your Aggie story! If you have any questions, please contact Marimar Miguel at (956) 271-1305 or mmiguel@tamu.edu.
