Colleges, Majors and Transfer Course Sheets

Selecting a major is a critical component in the transfer process. Each major has its own transfer applicant admission requirements, so make sure to review each major of interest’s prerequisites. Visit catalog.tamu.edu for the most current information or contact the Prospective Student Center nearest you.

Transfer Course Sheet Guidelines

  • Meeting the minimum requirements listed in the Transfer Course Sheets does NOT guarantee admission.
  • Transfer Course Sheets are meant to be used as a guide in addition to the Undergraduate Catalog and College/Department Academic Advisors.
  • Academic and coursework requirements vary by major and are subject to change each year.
  • Competitive applicants will have appropriate coursework graded/completed at time of application with the highest GPA.
  • Second-choice majors are NOT considered by every college/major, and admission to a second choice is often more competitive.

The Transfer Course Sheets are supported in a partnership between the Office of Admissions and the Academic Colleges at Texas A&M and are subject to change during the year. Students are reminded to review the information provided on the Transfer Courses Sheets regularly in the event of an update.

Field of Study Curricula
A Field of Study Curriculum is a set of courses that will satisfy lower-division requirements for a baccalaureate degree in a specific academic area at a general academic teaching institution. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board publishes information about Board-approved Field of Study Curricula. Texas A&M University complies with requirements outlined in 19 Texas Administrative Code §4.32 regarding transfer of course credit for completed or partially completed Field of Study Curricula. Per 19 Texas Administrative Code §4.32, following the receipt of credit, the student may be required to satisfy the remaining course requirements in the field of study curriculum of the receiving institution, or to complete additional requirements in the receiving institution's program, as long as those requirements do not duplicate course content already completed through the field of study curriculum."
Notes

Bachelor of Arts degree requirements in foreign language courses may be earned through examination or classwork, but they must appear on the applicant’s official college transcript.

1. Environmental Design Architectural Studies provides entry to the Master of Architecture program and is a pathway to an architecture license.

2. Applicants seeking elementary teacher certification will complete a baccalaureate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. There is no Secondary Teacher Education major. All students seeking secondary certification (except those preparing to teach physical education or health) will major in an academic discipline other than education (i.e., Mathematics, English, Computer Science, Biology, etc.) and take appropriate coursework for teacher certification in the College of Education & Human Development.

3. Pre-veterinary medicine is not offered at Texas A&M. Select a major that matches your career interests regardless of whether or not you plan to enter the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program after receiving your undergraduate degree. Any major may be selected — however, some curricula more closely parallel courses that must be completed before applying to the DVM program than others.
