Texas A&M University is home to over 6,000 students from around the globe — almost 10% of our student enrollment calls somewhere other than the United States home. Our students bring unique perspectives to classroom discussions and make Texas A&M a diverse and inclusive place to get an education.
You are an international freshman if you:
- are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas (please review Senate Bill 1528)
- are a student without college credit
- earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)
International Student & Scholar Services
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) issues Certificates of Eligibility, I–20s for F–1 visa holders and DS-2019s for J-1 visa holders. ISSS also provides information for international students about which immigration status is the most appropriate for them while attending Texas A&M.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
Texas A&M offers financial aid and scholarships exclusive to international students to make the cost of a college education more affordable. International freshmen, transfers and continuing students have access to university scholarships and third-party scholarships from private funders.
International students have access to financial aid through the International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) and International Texas Public Education Grants (ITPEG). Make sure to explore every option available to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
