Understanding your admission status (Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn)

Posted on 06/13/2022 01:26 PM
Texas A&M University is widely recognized for its outstanding engineering programs, including Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn (TEAB). And now you’ve joined the latest cohort of talented Aggies — congrats on your admission! Here’s a breakdown to help you better understand your admission status and all the perks TEAB offers.

About the Program
Through the Engineering at Blinn program, you are co-enrolled at Texas A&M University and Blinn College for two years. You'll take math and science courses through Blinn College on the RELLIS Campus and engineering courses on the Texas A&M campus, allowing you to participate in student activities and organizations at both campuses.

As an engineering students admitted to TEAB, you should accept the offer and follow all instructions/guidelines listed on your Applicant Information System (AIS) page. You also must meet the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy and take your Math Placement Exam in a proctored environment before enrolling. You will be registered in specific sections of your math, science and engineering courses during your New Student Conference.

The primary pathway to a degree-granting major in the College of Engineering is the Entry to a Major process. You are strongly encouraged to apply to a degree-granting major once you’re in good academic standing and have taken at least two science, math and engineering courses.

Upon entry to a degree-granting major in the College of Engineering, you may choose to remain co-enrolled at Blinn College until the completion of the two-year program.  Or you can decide to attend Texas A&M full time and use reverse articulation to complete the two-year degree. If you remain at the two-year institution after being granted entry into a major, you will be advised by the advisor in the degree-granting major as well as the Engineering Academic and Student Affairs advisor.

Those who do not meet the Entry to a Major application requirements can still secure full admission to Texas A&M by satisfying program completion requirements. Upon successful completion, students can apply for a change of curriculum into a degree-granting major at Texas A&M.

Benefits of TEAB

Enrolling in the TEAB program allows you to save more than $2,000 a semester by being co-enrolled. Your courses at Blinn will allow for a smaller student-faculty ratio, including the critical math and science courses that are the foundation for engineering. By taking first-year math, science and engineering courses with the same students, you’ll develop a community of engineering academic peers. Outside of class, you’ll be able to live on-campus at Texas A&M, participate in student organizations and even purchase a sports pass. Engineering at Blinn students have access to the same resources and experiences as students fully enrolled at Texas A&M.

Lastly, students who earn a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average at both Blinn College and Texas A&M and complete the required coursework will be automatically admitted to their first-choice engineering major.

Financial Aid

TEAB students seeking financial aid will submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to Texas A&M and apply for financial aid with Texas A&M as their home institution. The combined credit hours from Blinn College and Texas A&M will be used to assess enrollment status required for financial aid. TEAB students can apply for freshman and continuing student scholarships through Texas A&M.

Your tuition and fees will be handled separately by Blinn College and Texas A&M. You will be billed by each institution based on the number of credit hours taken. Additional information about Texas A&M tuition can be found through Student Business Services, and details on Blinn’s tuition is available in the college catalog
