To qualify for automatic admission as a transfer student to Texas A&M University, a student must:

A conventional transfer student must apply to Texas A&M University via the transfer applicant process. Their file is then reviewed and a decision is made in regard to the student's admission to Texas A&M. The minimum requirement for a student to apply for transfer admission is that the student must complete 24 graded, transferable hours with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. However, a student who meets these requirements is not guaranteed admission to Texas A&M.

Under TAP, a student who meets all requirements as dictated by the agreement between Texas A&M and the participating community college (please see the response to question 1 for the requirements) is guaranteed admission to Texas A&M into the major that corresponds to the degree plan that was selected at their community college. These students are still required to complete the transfer application and submit all required credentials as part of the application process, but will not be subject to departmental review for admission consideration.

To qualify for automatic admission as a transfer student, a student must complete at a minimum, 24 hours at a participating community college after high school graduation. College credit earned prior to high school graduation will not be counted toward the 24 hour minimum, but all transferable coursework taken prior to high school graduation will be counted toward the student's degree.

To qualify for automatic admission as a transfer student, a student must complete at a minimum, 24 hours at a participating community college. All 24 of these hours must be completed at the participating community college. If a student has earned transferable hours at an institution other than one of the participating community colleges, those hours will be counted toward the student's degree, but not toward the 24 hour minimum for guaranteed transfer admission.

Only students at participating community colleges are eligible for TAP at this time. Students of other institutions are not eligible, but can apply to Texas A&M as conventional transfer students.

Those community colleges that were selected to participate in this pilot program were selected because of their proximity to Texas A&M University's Regional Prospective Student Centers in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and to Texas A&M University in College Station, in order to better advise those students who wish to utilize this option to transfer to Texas A&M. We do plan to expand this program to other community colleges in the future. If you would like to see your community college partnering with Texas A&M University in the future to offer TAP admission to students of that community college, we suggest that you let officials at your community college know that you are interested in this option. They can contact the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M to obtain further information.

Texas A&M University at Galveston, which is a branch campus of Texas A&M University at College Station is participating in the program. All other Texas A&M University System institutions, i.e., Prairie View A&M University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M International University, Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University - Commerce, and Texas A&M University - Texarkana, are separate entities, so any transfer program with another Texas A&M System institution must be administered through that institution.
