Certificate of Eligibility (I-20)

New Student Conference
Newly admitted, undergraduate international students are required to attend a New Student Conference. You are automatically registered for
the appropriate conference upon being admitted, so there is no registration form to fill out. For information about conference schedules

English Language Proficiency
Texas A&M requires International undergraduate students to demonstrate the ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
Undergraduate students may meet this requirement in one of five ways:
- official TOEFL score of at least 600 paper-based test, 250 computer-based test, or 100 internet-based test;
- official IELTS score of 7.0 overall band;
- have an official SAT Critical Reading score of 480, or ACT English score of 19;
- transfer from an accredited U.S. institution of higher education with at least 30 semester credit hours, including the equivalent to
Texas A&M ENGL 104; or
- achieve English Language Proficiency Verification by taking the English Language Proficiency Examination (ELPE) prior to registration for
the first semester at Texas A&M University. If remedial English classes are necessary, it will extend the time required to complete a
degree.

Math Assessment Test
Students who are mandated by their college to take the Math Assessment Test will do so the day prior to their New Student Conference and
must arrive to take the test by 3:15 pm in Harrington Classroom Building. Advance registration is not required for the tests. For more

On-Campus Housing
A student housing handbook and application is included with your acceptance letter packet. The availability of on-campus housing is
limited. If you prefer to live on-campus, we recommend that you submit your housing application as soon as possible. Click

Other Housing Options
Because on-campus housing is limited, many students need to locate housing off-campus. Other students prefer to live off-campus.
Texas A&M University offers shuttle bus transportation for a large area in the surrounding Bryan/College Station community.

Off-Campus Survival Manual
This manual is published by AGOSS and is a step-by-step guide to living off campus. It contains a property
map and amenities list for many properties in the Bryan/College Station area, as well as helpful information concerning leases, roommates,

International Student Check-In and Orientation
Check-in and Orientation is mandatory for incoming international students and must be completed prior to your being allowed to register.

Financial Resources
International applicants who are accepted must submit evidence of their ability to support themselves and any accompanying dependents before
a Certificate of Eligibility can be issued. For information about the amount and type of evidence that must be submitted, visit the ISS

Transfer-In Form
An international student who is accepted to the University and who has attended another school in the United States (language school,
college, or university) will receive a Transfer-In Form (TIF) with the acceptance letter. This form describes the student's immigration
status for the semester immediately before enrolling at Texas A&M University. It also prompts the current school to release the student
to Texas A&M by entering a release date in the federal government's SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) database.
The TIF needs to be received and processed by the International Student Services (ISS) Office before an international student can receive
the Certificate of Eligibility. The TIF can be downloaded from the ISS website at
