Hints for your Application
-
Visit campus.
Visiting the campus and participating in Texas A&M programs demonstrates an interest and commitment to the University.
Examples of academic association include official visits to campus such as attending Aggieland Saturday, attending college night
programs, meeting with a Texas A&M University admissions counselor, visiting any Prospective Student Center, attending a
Texas A&M University application workshop or participating in a University sponsored program such as SLOT, SEAL, ExCEL, etc.
Provide this information in your application through the electronic application shoebox questions or include them in Essay A.
-
Consider your course work.
It is recommended that students go above and beyond the minimum required and recommended course work during their high school career.
-
Begin filling out your application early (Before December 1)
Take your time so that you paint a complete picture of your high school academics and activities. We recommend that your application
be submitted first, followed by the other required documents.
-
Include all of your activities.
Part II of the application, which asks you to detail your extracurricular activities, is very important. Keep a running list of
leadership positions, community service, awards and employment, for both school and non-school related activities. Include your time
commitment and duration of involvement in each activity. If there is not adequate space on your application for your activities, you
may submit additional pages in a similar format. Include your full name and date of birth on all pages.
-
Prepare for your essays.
Students are required to complete Essays A and B and are strongly recommended to complete Essay C. Spend time thinking creatively and
writing notes about your goals, talents, achievements and any challenges you have overcome.
-
Print the Document ID Sheet.
Included in the Apply Texas Application is a Document ID sheet which you should print and attach to all credentials submitted by mail.
-
Submit your application.
Before you send your application, you should make a copy for your records. We recommend that you apply online. If you choose to submit a paper application,
be sure to sign and date your application and mail all your documents well in advance of the closing date to ensure they arrive on time.
