Undergraduate students will normally be permitted three Q-drops during their undergradute studies; however:
State law prohibits sutdents from having more than six dropped courses from
all state institutions attended during their undergraduate career if they entered higher education as a first-time
enrolled freshman beginning the 2007 fall semester or after. Q-drops in one-hour courses will not count in
the Texas A&M limit of three but will be included in the State-mandated limit of six dropped
courses. If a lecture and companion lab are dropped at the same time, this will count as one Q-drop rather than
two. (Texas A&M University Student Rule
1.16.4)
Advisors and advising office staff with existing Compass accounts and appropriate access will be able to
process Q-drops on the SZAREGS form in accordance to the
Registration and Add/Drop
Procedures for the current term. When processing a Q-drop in Compass, advisors and advising office staff may
need to refer to or use the following items:
- The AOC Approved Q-Drop form available for intra-departmental use.
- A list of the approved Q-Drop Codes for Compass
Please contact the Records Office for information regarding attending a Q-drop training session.
