Scholarships

Honors Scholarships

Texas A&M’s most selective, competitive academic scholarships are administered by the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships. These include the President’s Endowed, Lechner and McFadden, National Merit, and Merit Plus Scholarships for incoming freshmen, the Hazelwood Scholarship for transfer students, and the Academic Incentive Award Scholarships for currently enrolled students. Texas A&M awards more than 1,200 of these prestigious scholarships each year in recognition of academic and leadership achievement. For more information on these scholarships please visit us online at honors.tamu.edu/scholarships.

Honors scholarship applicants are required to have an SAT score of 1300 or ACT score of 30 to be competitive. Eligibility for competition: SAT 1300 (at least 600 in each Critical Reading and Math) or ACT 30 (at least 30 in each English and Math), or semi-finalist or commended standing in national scholarship competitions sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or College Board. Applicants must submit the scores of the writing component, including the essay score, as part of SAT or ACT test results. Additional essays may be required.

Foundation Excellence Award
The Foundation Excellence Award (FEA) is a scholarship program created to increase diversity in Texas A&M’s undergraduate student body. The FEA helps the University recruit and retain outstanding underrepresented students instead of losing them to out-of-state colleges that offer more attractive financial aid packages. Ultimately, the FEA helps provide Texas employers with a more diverse pool of potential employees. Apply online at giving.tamu.edu.

Opportunity Award
This award is designed to provide scholarships for first year freshmen with outstanding secondary school records. Once application is submitted the student could be eligible for over 2,500 awards. Selection is based on an applicant’s high school scholastic record, character, activities, leadership ability, SAT or ACT scores and in some cases, evidence of financial need. Stipends for these awards generally range from $500 to $3,000 per year. Apply online at scholarships.tamu.edu.

Regents’ Scholarships
The Regents’ Scholarship is designed to assist first generation students in achieving their educational goals at Texas A&M University. First generation students whose Total Family Income (parents and student) is less than $40,000 per year based upon the calendar year prior to the year they enroll at Texas A&M University are eligible. There will be 600 recipients that will receive $5,000 per year for up to four years—with the ability to add other scholarships (for which many will be eligible) up to the cost of attendance or demonstrated financial need. Regents’ eligibility is based on information provided on the Texas Common Application and the FAFSA.
