Applicant Categories - Definitions

Freshman


A Domestic Freshman applicant:
  • is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; someone who has applied for permanent residency; or who qualifies for Texas residency based on Senate Bill 1528;
  • is a degree-seeking applicant without college credit or whose only college credit was received prior to high school graduation.
An International Freshman applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,
  • is not a Permanent Resident of the U.S., or someone who has applied for U.S. permanent residency,
  • is someone who does not meet eligibility requirements for SB 1528
  • is a degree-seeking applicant without college credit or whose only college credit was received prior to high school graduation.



Transfer


A Domestic Transfer applicant:
  • is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; someone who has applied for permanent residency; or who qualifies for Texas residency based on Senate Bill 1528;
  • is a degree-seeking applicant,
  • has graduated from high-school or equivalent,
  • has enrolled in a post-secondary institution,
  • does not have a bachelor's degree, and
  • does not qualify for readmission.
An International Transfer applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,
  • is not a Permanent Resident of the U.S., or someone who has applied for U.S. permanent residency,
  • is someone who does not meet eligibility requirements for SB 1528
  • is a degree-seeking applicant,
  • has graduated from high-school or equivalent,
  • has enrolled in a post-secondary institution,
  • does not have a bachelor's degree, and
  • has never enrolled at Texas A&M as an undergraduate degree-seeking student.

Graduate


A Domestic Graduate applicant:
  • is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, or someone who has applied for permanent residency,
  • is a student who holds a bachelor's or professional degree (or equivalent), and
  • is a degree-seeking applicant.
An International Graduate applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,
  • is not a Permanent Resident of the U.S., or someone who has applied for U.S. permanent residency,
  • is a student who holds a bachelor's or professional degree, or equivalent, is seeking a degree at the graduate level, and
  • has not previously attended Texas A&M University. (International students with a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University who wish to pursue a graduate degree here will need to submit a "domestic graduate" application.)

International


An International Freshman applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,

  • is a degree-seeking applicant without college credit or whose only college credit was received prior to high school graduation.
An International Transfer applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,
  • is not a Permanent Resident of the U.S., or someone who has applied for U.S. permanent residency,
  • is someone who does not meet eligibility requirements for SB 1528
  • is a degree-seeking applicant,
  • has graduated from high-school or equivalent,
  • has enrolled in a post-secondary institution,
  • does not have a bachelor's degree, and
  • has never enrolled at Texas A&M as an undergraduate degree-seeking student.
An International Graduate applicant:
  • is not a U.S. Citizen,
  • is not a Permanent Resident of the U.S., or someone who has applied for U.S. permanent residency,
  • is a student who holds a bachelor's or professional degree, or equivalent, is seeking a degree at the graduate level, and
  • has not previously attended Texas A&M University. (International students with a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University who wish to pursue a graduate degree here will need to submit a "domestic graduate" application.)

Post-Baccalaureate


An Undergraduate Post-baccalaureate applicant:
  • has a bachelor's degree, and
  • intends to pursue a second undergraduate degree.

Readmit


An Undergraduate Readmit applicant:
  • is a former degree-seeking Texas A&M undergraduate student (including an international student),
  • does not have a bachelor's degree, and
  • did not officially register for the previous semester (excluding summer sessions) at Texas A&M.
A Graduate Readmit applicant:
  • previously attended Texas A&M University and did not complete the degree they were seeking at time of last enrollment, and
  • did not officially register for the previous semester (excluding summer sessions) at Texas A&M.

Note: Applicants whose only previous enrollment at Texas A&M has been at a non-degree status do not qualify for readmission.

Non-Degree Seeking


An Undergraduate Non-Degree applicant:
  • wishes to take specific undergraduate coursework, and
  • does not intend to pursue a degree at Texas A&M.
A Graduate Non-Degree applicant:
  • has completed an undergraduate degree, and
  • intends to take graduate level courses without applying for admission into a graduate degree program.
A Transient applicant:
  • wishes to take specific undergraduate coursework
  • does not wish to pursue a degree at Texas A&M
  • intends to take classes during the summer term only (summer session I, II or 10 week session)
